Tummy Tuck

Our surgeons at Brevard Cosmetic Surgery Group are experts at performing tummy tucks (abdominoplasty). They can help you decide on a tummy tuck or liposuction. During the procedure, excess skin and fat is removed from the patient’s anterior abdominal area and in most cases restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer . Careful attention is made to hide scarring low on the bikini line.

The most common reasons a tummy:

     Pregnancy
     Aging
     Significant fluctuations in weight
     Heredity
     Prior surgery

Pre-operative evaluation is based on your age and health
After it has been decided that a tummy tuck is right for you, there is a minimal pre-operative evaluation required. This will be based on your age and overall health. We recommend that if you plan to lose a significant amount of weight, you do it before you schedule your surgery.

Post-operative recovery from tummy tuck surgery
Recovery from a tummy tuck varies greatly among patients. Because the surgery is performed at the core areas of the body, movement can be uncomfortable for several days afterward. This discomfort is usually well controlled with oral pain medications. We also have our patients use an abdominal binder for one to two weeks. There will be scheduled follow-ups during this period and the patient may need slightly more time before getting back to work or lifting, compared with other cosmetic surgeries.
